[Collins] Collins 312B-1 / 312B-2 Serial Number Question

I just got done repairing, aligning, etc., a KWM-1, 312B-2, and 516F-1 for a client.  There was no serial number on the 312B-2 that I noticed.

I have a 312B-2 station console and another Collins guy has a 312B-2 as well
as a 312B-1 speaker.  None of the three have a serial number or a serial
number plate.  There is an area on the bottom with 4 holes that could
conceivably be for a serial number plate but none of the holes have evidence
of screws being attached.

 

Perhaps these units were not serialized?  Anyone know?
