[Collins] What is a Collins 176S-1

Probably AM since the sideband isn't selectable. Maybe 618S-1 probably
before 618T family. Winged emblem so before 1965. AM probably before
1959. I did find a drawing number 522-0021-006 and that it was made at
Cedar Rapids. A production unit would have had MCN or a date on the
chassis somewhere. SOP was to use serial numbers below 100 for
engineering prototypes so this was likely one of those. The cable
connectors on the back are like those used in the R390 and R390A modules
and other modular radios.
The chassis labels indicate there's audio compression and my limited
information source that gave the drawing number called it a "Remote
Amplifier". Rack mounted its unlikely to be mobile or aircraft, though
might be shipboard but this one hasn't been treated for the tropics.
All google showed was the repeated epay posts and links to it from
176S-1. Google found nothing for the drawing or part number.
My list Collins Equipment Type Listing didn't show any engineer
responsible for the unit.
