Mike, In my personal opinion, you will not notice any loss when using the SO-239 female to male N adapters. I've had one on my 30L-1 and two on the 312B-4 coupler for 16 years with no problems. I had them on my 312B-5 when I owned it. I also have them on the 302C3 wattmeter, again no problems. While I'm sure there is an actual loss, it's trivial, you and I will never see it or notice it, and it's only measurable with precision test equipment looking for some 0.1 or 0.2 dB change. The 30L-1 with an adapter will work with the 312B-4 with adapters just fine. The adapters are easy and quick. Changing out connectors is a big hassle with no benefit in my opinion.
Enjoy your KWM-2A! station. I had that station lineup for about 12 years and then sold it a few years ago in a huge radio sell off. What a fabulous transceiver that was and I sometimes think about buying another one. I do have the S-Line with the 30L-1 and 302C3 and I love that station!
