[Collins] Side tone with Collins original S Line

Took three months to get through the list.
I see from the schematics, that the 32S-1 has no adjustment of sidetone
level. Its connected directly to the audio volume control in the
receiver. I'd mount a 500K or 1M pot in a shielded box with a pair of
shielded cables with RCA phono plugs on the other ends. Not to say the
shielded box couldn't have a couple RCA phono jacks. Wire the pot as a
variable series resistor, not as a volume control. If its wired as
volume control at low settings it would load the receiver audio too. The
series resistor won't do that, in fact there's already a 220K series
resistor in the transmitter sidetone audio line to lower the level. The
variable series resistor should be the most usable while a temporary pot
could be replaced with a fixed value series resistor.
Incidentally an Altoids tin box is a workable shielded box for such an
application.
