[Collins] KWM2A meter back light

The light should be around the inside of the meter case and therefore
visible in front.

You may have something blocking the meter light that is pushed into the back
of the meter housing or the light may not be inserted all the way in.
Perhaps a spider or other foreign object is interfering with the light.

Whenever I acquire and work on a new piece of Collins gear I ALWAYS remove
the meter and disassemble and thoroughly clean (sometimes removing) the
meter glass and the face of the meter. It's amazing how much brighter
things become.

I also take the meter case and paint the inside with white paint. That
also makes all the difference in the world to how "bright" the scale looks.

Quite possibly the rig was owned and operated by a chain smoking individual
or even just a moderate smoker. If that's the case the outside and likely
the front area of the rig is coated with a thick layer of nicotine. If you
aren't a smoker you can probably do a sniff test and maybe even draw a
finger across some of the painted area and see it it's coated and in that
case a thorough cleaning would be helpful and make the rig look much better
and maybe even the nicotine has protected the paint and cleaning it off will
make things look like near new.

Subject: [Collins] KWM2A meter back light

Hello. I have a KWM2A with very poor meter back lighting. The light shows
around the edges and at the bottom of the meter where the meter arm base is
with nothing showing on the face at all and this is in the darken room. Is
the light not suppost to show through the meter face? Rick VE7RiK
