I don't know of any other diode that will handle the frequency and
voltage of the 2-10-c. It is not a common part, hardly ever has been a
common part. Many a small signal schottky diode will hande the
frequency, but none will come close to handling the RF grid voltage on
the PA, limited generally to about 35 volts PIV vs the couple KV of the
2-01-C. And they don't even emit a puff of smoke when overstressed, they
just stop working from a melted junction.
The alternative I use is a 100 or 200 MHz scope. I picked up a 100 MHz
Tek last month for $75, paid another 40 for probes and it should do as
good as my vintage Tek 475 for aligning HF rigs. The Tek 465 and
following scopes with similar specs work well and give more information
than the plain meter does.

I didn't pay but $100 for the entire unit. Do any of you know of another source, or has anyone come up with an alternative? I'm thinking of a modern diode affixed permanently in the probe and disconnect the 5 V. Does anyone have a suggestion? Thanks
