[Collins] Transformers

FWIW,
I bought three landscape lighting transformers at a garage sale for about $10. They are 120VAC in and 12VAC out and have currents of 20-30 Amps each. They are wired in three of my four 20 Amp ham shack circuits, which power my Collins equipment, no less, and can be switched in and out with single switches. To implement an individual voltage dropping scheme for a single piece of equipment might make sense but, when you have many 10's or 100's of pieces of gear. a group bucking transformer seems the only logical way to go. A transformer from a beat up, non-working 12VDC supply at a ham fest might be just what the doctor ordered (if you can't find cheap landscape lighting transformers).
