[Collins] 32S-3 wire

I'm recalling typing A22PB9026 hundreds of times with different last
four digits when typing two from charts for my designs. A22PB as I
recall stood for nylon jacketed PVC insulated 22 gauge tinned and
stranded hook up wire. The last four digits were the color. 9 for white
PVC, 0 for a black stripe, 2 for a red stripe, 6 for a blue stripe.
Wires could be solid colored, or generally on a white background have 1,
2, or three color stripes. I just checked some hookup wire I have from
that era and it definitely has a nylon jacket over the PVC insulation.
I/d think that heater wire should be rated for low voltage drop at a
current of at least 3 amps, so probably 18 or 16 gauge, and would have
600 volt insulation. I have a roll of 22 or smaller and a bit of a roll
of 18 gauge but 1000 volt insulation and some maybe 16 at 600 volt but
its not very long.

You should be able to extract the remains of that wire and measure its
size. If you can't measure it, cut a sample and mail it to me and I can
measure it. Callbook address is up to date.

Otherwise you will be looking at 100 foot rolls of similar wire from
Mouser or Digi-Key, maybe Dan's Small Parts and Kits or Jameco, but not
so likely to have PVC insulation with the nylon jacket or the original
colors. I don't have documentation on those and I'm lacking the ambition
to open up my 32S-1 to take a look. Perhaps Knepper has a radio open
that he can check for wire colors and size.
