Many years ago there was a surplus house in Charleston, SC.
I found a KWM-2A chassis that looked like it had been run over by a bull dozer.
While salvaging what parts that were still usable, I discovered why
the radio was scrapped.
On a tube socket, there was a very well made mechanical connection.
The problem was that there was no solder, but, there was red paint
(witness stripe), as on all the other connections, indicating that it
had been inspected.
I have seen the same on GE radios as well as Motorola radios.
Just shows that we are human and the well skilled technician will get
the bargins.
