Greetings to all,

I need to thin down my collection because of an impending move to
the country. I have quite a bit of gear that needs to find a new home. For
now, I would like to offer three Collins 51S-1's to the list before
resorting to eBay. I know that this list requires a price to be posted with
items. I do not understand why because if really complicated transactions,
but will comply. The prices are, of course, open to negation, and trade.
Please, Please, do not try to contact me through this list. Contact me
direct by telephone, or email.

        51S-1 #1 is a Round Emblem unit, SR# 8767, original case, weighted
tuning knob, dial break, and either white, or brown faced meter. Asking
$2,500 plus packing, shipping, and insurance.

        51S-1 #2 is a Round Emblem unit, SR# 5045, original case, weighted
tuning knob, dial break, and either white, or brown faced meter. This is an
unusual 51S-1 because it's chassis is gold color. I do not want to get into
an argument, as in the past, as to whether this is anodized, or alodined. I
have seen several "S" lines with this colored chassis, but never a 51S-1. I
have seen many late 51S-1's that have a golden colored cover over the
filters, but never one with a complete gold chassis, including the filter
cover. The top of the chassis on this radio has some slight discoloration.
It is still a very rare radio and is a collectors item. Asking $3,500 plus
packing, shipping, and insurance.

        51S-1 #3 is a Winged Emblem unit, SR# 847, rack mounted (Collins,
of course), weighted spinner knob, and brown faced meter. This receiver is
in very good condition, considering its age, not perfect, but, I would say
high average. Asking $1,200 plus packing, shipping, and insurance.

All three of these receivers are in good working condition, with no
dead bands, dial are smooth, centered, and quite accurate. If you are
interested in any, or all, of these radios, please contact me off-line. I
will be glad to answer any question and supply pictures, to those who are
really interested.

I should probably explain about the meters, to save time later.
Collins would put just about anything in their radios that the customer
ordered. The original 51S-1's had very nice, bright, white meters. Later
on, when these receivers became so popular in FAA Air Traffic Control
Centers, and COMM Stations, the meters were usually changed to the (now)
more common brown faces to reduce light interference in the, nearly dark,
FAA Centers and Comm stations. I still have two of the white faced meters
left and will, at buyers request, install which ever you prefer.

I will consider trades as partial payment. I am particularly
interested in finding a nice condition, Round Emblem, 55G-1.
