Just a quick clarification.

The SiLabs Si570 is NOT a DDS chip; it is a VCXO. A DDS chip typically has
more output spurs (depending on how fast it is clocked; faster is better)
but can QSY virtually instantaneously. The Si570, in contrast, has lower
spurious output, and can be QSYd , but not as rapidly as a DDS.

I use the Analog Devices AD9951 DDS in my homebrew xcvr. Fabulous device! I
can split frequencies and key the rig at 30 wpm, and the chip follows along
flawlessly.

I use the Si570 in my Softrock xcvr, and it works really nicely. Should work
well in Collins VFO/LO applications.
