Dear Ian,
I have an idea to control HF-series units through the I/O port of the
RS-232C interface on the 8 bits or 16 bits micro processor.
Because I also wish to control several HF-series units remotely instead
of the HF-8094.
If you implement such a purpose, you may approach a similar approach
like my simple idea, as follows:
1) Using the micro controller with two ports of the RS-232C interface.
The dual ports will handle the Control way from the micro controller and
the Monitor way to the LED display of the micro controller.
You will be able to make a program to communicate HF-series easily,
if you have any curiosities to write a program by the C language or the
assembly language. I think these implementation will not be difficult that
you use the MicroSoft's C++ programming environment.
It's so simple and non-expensive.
2) Studying the interface protocol for controlling the HF-series.
You can get the following manual store like the Surplus Sales of Nebraska:
http://www.surplussales.com/Manuals/man_col3.html
3) HF-series specify the interface standard to remote their units themselves.
You will get the interface command packet in each 5 bytes long.
You will put each packet separately for demand a specific control.
You will receive each packet separately for display the status of HF-series.
4) In order to implement the romote processor PCB, with the PCB you have to
connect the switches and an encoder for each unit to controll.
I hope that you enjoy the technical treatment for both the analog circuit and
the digital circuit.
Best regards,
Katsuhiko Hirai
