Hi All,
KWM-1 , great little radio. I often use mine on 20m barefoot
working stateside and DX. My very critical friend tells me it sounds
exceptionally good and clean .I finally got around to restoring this one
in 2007 to celebrate it's 50th year birthday. I also have a second one in
the museum that I've got working on receive but still not sorted out the
transmit side.
Keep the operational.

Three bands is not so good. No way to work splits is not so good for DX
chasing. Its fairly compact for the power dissipated inside so probably
runs a little warm. And today even a desk top rig is smaller and way
more versatile.
I know a ham with at least a couple but I'm not sure he has made them
work.
As for military applications that's why the option for the crystal
control (sold for novice use because in those days novices weren't
allowed to use VFOs). I know there was a KWM-1 in the U2 spy plane, I
don't know of any other military application.
