The 9th edition of the manual (as on the CCA site) in section 7 does
list all the service bulletins (which are dated) about major circuit
mods and then lists all the manufacturing changes saying in general they
don't need to be made to radios in the field, though some suggest the
changes if that part of the circuit needs repair, But the list of
changes are not dated. The service bulletin dates and those changes
could put some dates into the changes list.
When he decreed random serial numbers, it was Art's intent to prevent
the MCN or serial numbers setting market value. He was annoyed that even
new 75A4 sold at higher prices with later serial numbers because of the
manufacturing changes. Could be he came close to succeeding in the S-
line/KWM-2 except for the changes in style from winged to round and
after his time to Rockwell. He decreed those style changes too.
Sometimes Art only mused aloud, "I wonder how it would be if..." and
those around him caused that to happen without any discussion whether or
not it was good for the company, its products, or its employees.
