   Wow! This having been my first note to the group in 9 years of "reading the mail", I am astounded at the response.  I received 6 direct e-mails concerning this question and would have responded to each separately - but what I saw on my e-mail client made me wonder if hitting reply would send the responses back to the sender or to the newsletter!  To play it safe, please let me thank K6RFK (Alan), VE7GZ (Fern), K6SDE (Ian), K8TFD (Ken), W7KSG (J), and K4JRB (Dave) for taking the trouble to get in touch.
   I had already tried the "easy-out" of swapping ends with the pot connections without being successful.  But I think I have now found a replacement pot (thanks J).  So maybe that'll hold me for the next 45 years!
