You will need some sort of PTT output from the 706 and it will need a
relay or transistor interface to the 30L-1. 30L-1 keying voltage is
about -140 volts open circuit and probably as much as -50 ma closed
circuit. I don't know what outputs the 706 has, but often there is a
circuit grounded for transmit or a +TX voltage that can be sampled to
run the relay to key the relays in the 30L-1. Typical solid state output
from the modern exciter will be fried instantly if connected to the
30L-1 control input directly.
