Air flow is one reason, hot air rises and both the
30L-1 and SB-200 are already marginal where air flow
to cool the tubes are concerned. Turning the
amplifier on its side would reduce the air flow
considerably.
Then one would have to look sideways to read the
meter, dials, etc. Also, the linear would just look
"funny" when sitting beside the rest of the S-Line,
SB-Line, etc.
