[Collins] Use it or lose it!!!!!!!

My S-line does not see daily use on HF; it is used primarily on 6 and 2M 
with a 62S-1.



Last week I decided to bring the S-line up on 75M for a weekly ragchew,

75S on frequency, select 75M antenna, tune up the 32S...

No Plate current!!!, no resting, nada...(mumble, mumble, I don't have the 
time to tear this rig apart)



A few days later I remember that the 62S-1 switches the screen current of 
the 6146's, check all the connectors, nothing.

Then I check the connectors on the 62S, and sure enough the cable is out of 
the socket

Voila, plate current on the 6146's!

Tune up the 32S on 75M, perfect.

Switch in the antenna, the reflected power is off the scale and the tuner 
has no effect.

(Mumble, mumble, the ice storm must have damaged the G5RV)

One more check.. The 32S is on 14.2!!!!

Get on frequency, call, call, call, no answer, put the 32S in LSB.



The moral of the tale, we get lulled by the ease of operating the new SS 
radios and forget that the old BA's require that the brain be in gear before 
using.
