I guess I hadn't noticed self tapping. They would generally be stainless
steel, pan head, phillips. McMaster-Carr (www.mcmaster.com) shows #2 and
#4 in 18-8 stainless, say catalog numbers 92470A095 and 92470A107 for
1/4" length in #2 and #4. The head of the #2 is .167" diameter and the
#4 is .219" diameter.
Might have also been 3-48 with nuts, still in stainless which McM also
has but few hardware stores will.
