Its not the two tape antenna from HyGain. I found pictures at:
http://www.qsl.net/n4xy/ANT_Collins_637T-1.html and all the world links
to that with the title "Pictures and instructions" but I can't find the
instructions.
http://www.qsl.net/n2ckh/HA4000.htm shows the difference between the
tape dipoles and the 637T-2. Also has instructions for the HyGain tape
dipole.
>From the looks of the dials on N4XY's page, I'd say you pull the wire
out and lock it when the dial shows the operating frequency. If you want
to go below 3.1 MHz, you add 70' extensions first, which one presumes
are in the kit with the 637T-1 to make it a 637T-2. Undoubtedly there
are some complex gears and such to run the dials one turn while 70' of
wire comes out and the allow cranking the wire back in. The worst case
can be that the antenna was dunked in salt water ant the gear boxes are
bound up. The next worst case is that the antenna wire got tangled and
is short or got pruned. Unless the end insulator loops are extra large,
the standard antenna handbook formula for a half wave dipole will apply
since lumps at the middle don't change the frequency much and you can
check to see if the wire is all there. Both sides should be the same
length.
