[Collins] 51J-2 bandswitch problem

Long about February 20 last, there was discussion here about a gummed up
switch shaft bearing in a 51J-2. Among the suggestions was that Marvel
Miracle Oil would soften the congealed oil. Being a true skeptic about
miracle products, I picked up a bottle my next trip to town and dug my
stiffened switch from the trash can. I can report that this stuff has
softened the gum significantly but not yet completely. It works slowly
as it takes time to soak into the relatively small space between the
shaft and the bushing hindered by a snap ring. Where before I could
barely turn the switch front plate with the flat shaft gripped in the
vice, I can now turn that switch plate almost comfortably. I don't think
I could turn it with the plastic knob held by a single set screw yet.

At this rate it may take another month to loosen this switch shaft, but
it seems to be making progress.
