Repainting ought to be fairly practical. Spray it with the right color
and before it dries, use a paint solvent filled rag to wipe the paint
off the highlights and edges. That might affect the paint used, but
that's probably how it was painted at the factory. Though its possible
an etched mask was used to save most of the paint wiping. I think I'd
brush it with testor's model enamel and clean with their solvent. That's
not as fast at drying as spray paints.
