[Collins] 51J-2 bandswitch problem

Hi to the group,
 
I'm working on a 51J-2 that has a gear problem somewhere in the bandswitch  
mechanism.  I can turn the bandswitch with a lot of difficulty and I'm  afraid 
that I might break something.  It appears that something is binding,  but I 
can't seem to see anything wrong.  The next step is to disassemble  everything 
and I'm trying to avoid that.  Any suggestions would be  appreciated.
