[Collins] KWM-2 s/n Sticker

Stu, this is interesting. I recently picked up a WE 75S-3 (SN 14XXX)that
had a thin aluminum plate, almost like a heavy foil plate which is
sometimes used for inventory control. The dimensions are: 15/16 width X
5/8 height with a color (black) winged emblem on an orange banner across
the top. The SN was typed into the thin aluminum. The plate has a thin
black border and the orange includes a small thin orange border between
the black and blank aluminum area. I could take a photo if someone can
post it somewhere. I have never seen this before but perhaps others
have. I don't think this is a reproduction product, although it would
not be a major task to make these. You could use an old typewriter
without the ribbon to stamp in the SN, which is what appears to have
been done. There are adhesive remnants of a previous sticker. I don't
know the ownership history of this 75S3 other than the previous owner
was retired USAF and a former USAF Collins tech.

Subject: [Collins] KWM-2 s/n Sticker

After a complete inside-out, part/component refurb of my KWM-2, one item
has
me spinning my wheels: The emaciated silver serial number sticker (or
what
was the serial number sticker). All that remains is a small rectangle on
the
chassis. Any hints as to a source of an excepted method to replace that
item?
I do recall online auctions of blank Collins serial number plates. My
last
resort would be a clear plastic label-maker strip with the unit's s/n in

black, but I'm not sure that would stand the test of time (and heat).
Any
thoughts?
Thanks,
Stu, k2qde
