Well it's easy : the history of the 51J4 is the following 51J3/ 51J2/
51J1/ 51J .....
51J3 also known as a R-388 for the military .
A few years ago I sold a 51J4 ( with no cabinet ...the top and bottom cover
is plenty and not so heavy ) for $1400 like new .
Now I am ready to sell my favorite - only one left -with an additional
Mecanical filter ( 9 Khz to lisen to the 2 sidebands of regular AM
Broadcasting ) -
you can plug in the place of the 1 Khz .
I 'm asking $1000 with the additional filter and the original
cabinet ---very clean inside and out because of the top and bottom covers .
Also I did a full re-alignment 2 years ago .
I have the book and a picture .
This radio is so stable we used to use it as a frequencymeter in the
1950-60-70 here at Motorola .....all the 30 bands are easy to calibrate .
