[Collins] My First Collins Set

The 516F-2 is what you are looking for. A "temporary"
solution is a Heath HP-23 series which a number of
amateur radio operators have used on the Collins
S-Line eqipment. But, the 516F-2 is definitely much
better and, of course, is the Collins supply that was
designed for the 32S-1.

Your 32S-1, unless modified, is going to have the
full-wave (2-diode) instead of the full-wave bridge
(4-diode) balanced modulators. I definitely suggest
that you do NOT use the 32S-1 on CW. It WILL put out
3 signals with the 2-diode balanced modulators instead
of the 4-diode version. You will have the "wanted" CW
signal on USB, another CW signal on LSB, and the
residual carrier all being transmitted at the same
time.

Back when the 32S-1 / 32S-2 (and the KWM-2 series
which use the same type of CW generation) first came
out the FCC had a "field day" sending out
notifications to amateurs using the rigs on CW.

Even with the 4-diode balanced modulator the 32S-1
needs to be very carefully aligned to prevent the 3
signals from be transmitted on CW. The 32S-3 / 32S-3A
do not have this problem because they use true CW
instead of "side tone generated" CW.

I have had a 32S-1 for over 25 years as well as a
32S-3 for about 30 years. Also have two 75S-1
receivers and a fairly "scarce" 75S-3A. Use one 75S-1
receivers as the receiver when I operate "split" on 40
and 80 meter SSB working DX (use the 75S-3A to
transceive with my 32S-3A). The 32S-1 and 2nd 75S-1
are "in reserve".

I did add the Waters Q-Multiplier to the 75S-1 that I
use with the 32S-1 (added years ago). The other 75S-1
has the 500 Hz mechanical filter for CW and the BFO
crystal to go with it.

Anyway, especially on SSB, you should definitely
"enjoy" your "new" Collins S-Line.
