My yellow book (2nd edition, September 1959) says: "This supply can be
used with the KWM-1, KWM-2, or 32S-1. The 516E-1 is used primarily for
mobile operation." It has a schematic.
Unloaded voltages will be at least 800, and 260. Since the inverters are
square wave, not sinewave, they may not soar so much unloaded as a
516F-2.
The 75S receivers have provision for external DC input, but I don't know
of any Collins production DC supplies. I know Art ran S-line in his
boat, but I don't know about power supplies. There were some early S-
line advertisements showing S-line mobile but no mention of supplies.
The receiver needs 6.3, 12, or 24 at a few amps, 150 positive at up to
120 ma (filter choke rating), and -65 for RF gain control at a few ma.
I suppose one could tap off in the 516E-1 at the junction between CR8
and CR9 (probably need a filter choke and capacitor, or take AC from the
low voltage transformer (green wire) and use a separate half wave
rectifier an filter capacitor, then take bias from the transmitter bias
line.
Otherwise one probably could get along with a modern inverter, but some
small inverters produce much HF hash.
