I solved the problem a long time ago ......I use 3   140 Mfd  or more  450
volts  in serie at the input of the choke .....and you know what : the
6146's are very happy : the higher the plate voltage the better ....this way
you are also protecting the screens .....no problem .
Please do that only with a ""5R4 " .
REMEMBER : If the plate voltage is low  like 600-700 VDC  the screens start
thinking they are the plates  and the screen current goes way  TOO HIGH  ,
now  the screen is getting RED HOT  to the point of "" secondary emissions
"" now you have 2 dead 6146's
 I did that on all my own supplies  since my first KWM 1  in 1963 ....and I
still have it .
