[Collins] Couple Photos from Collins Users Conference in Dallas

we were scrambling, in the wake of 9-11,  before 9-11 we had a good 
attendance forecasted by paid or promised attendance... then for that soon 
after time FLYING was a risk, and those that took the risk, we certainly 
appreciated, and the fact that ALL of you pitched in and helped cover the 
shortfall, was very kind, and well received.. with the DROP in attendance it 
was about a push effort..  money wise.. The BBQ,  well poor ole Ron Fireman 
was only vindicated this past August by his Arizona brother Dick Kessler..
Last moth, I had occasion to visit with Rod blocksome for a few days , and 
we talked seriously about trying it one more time.. I have since talked with 
some of the others and there is a general interest in doing it one more 
time.. if we did it as a stand alone event, it would take on the rough order 
of 55 plus or so persons in attendance, in 2001 we were close to 100 pre 
9-11.. in 98'  I forget the number, but it was bigger.. and it went well.. 
all the fees were covered, bus's rooms , guest expenses, and the like.. plus 
in 01'  we had several guest speakers who had to change plans as well,  01 
was tuff to pull off,  but we never wavered.. we have talked of combining it 
with either HamCom or Belton,  but that really cuts away from the pure 
COLLINS experience.. so the popular thinking is leave it as a stand alone 
event..  some of us would love to do it again, some are not keen.. it would 
be up to all of you all..  we found it takes about 6 months to get it all 
rolling and do in the style we did in..  but we always felt like we were 
doing or offering it TEXAS style.. and that;s the starting point we used.. 
if we did it again, we could make it a killer event..  just depends on 
demand..   and how many of the brothers we can get together...   mac/mc

by the way  Scott I have that missing picture you're asking about , right 
here on my shack wall.. why Pappa Zulu [ k5pz ]  and Merry Christmas  [ 
w5mc ] were selected to kneel on the floor im not sure, but we did get up 
finally..

I recently came across a few photo's from the 2001 Collins Users Conference 
in Dallas.  They got me thinking about all the fine people I met and three 
solid days of Collins talk.  I snagged these photos from a CUC website that 
was briefly up after the conference.  I thought I'd just post em on my 
website for fun.  I recall seeing a group photo of the Dallas Posse taken at 
the end of the conference but I don't have it.  Wonder if anyone has that 
photo?  I'd like to post it as well.  Feel free to send 312A-1 along with 
photo.  :)))))))))
