The 51J probably did follow the 75A but lasted longer because they were
a commercial alternative to the R390(a) not replaced at Collins until
the 51S-1 came along. I don't know but I suspect there was a receiver
design made each year of 51J production to replace it that never got
past the proposal stage. I know that was true of ham gear.
