I had a 51S1 years ago it was way too broad for crowded Ham band use, but 
nice for casual SWL'ing.
The R-390A is also useless for the Ham Bands (except AM) and requires lots 
of  knob twisting for casual SWL'ing.

I'm looking to refurb an old Hallicrafters (one knob spin covers many Mhz.) 
for SWL surfing.....
