Not necessarily so! 

I have a nice R-388 that lacked the requisite "MFP."
It was a special Navy run that was made by Collins
when the R-390A was so heavily expensive. Circa 1962.
Guess the bluejackets didn't need MFP to ward off
moisture or mold onboard ship!
