There was a scene in the 80's show "McGuiver" (sp?)
where the bad guys were guarding a room where McGuiver
and some sidekick were held up. In the room was a huge
PA speaker and what looked like a 75S something unit
(but definitely a Collins S line item). Well, good ol'
MG got two pairs of headphones (one for himself and
one for his companion to use as ear muffs), hooked up
the Collins to the PA speaker (I suspect he had the
xtal calibrator on), plugged the unit in, knocked on
the door to cause the bad guys to come in and MG
switched on the Collins to full blast (the pix showed
the S-meter pegging full right) and of course, the bad
guys dropped their guns to cover their ears because of
the high pitched calibrator audio while Mac and his
pal attempted their escape before the power cord ran
out :^(. Oh well, but the Collins did it's job!
