Hi Ean,
neither the receiver circuits not the transmitter circuits will resonate
anywhere near the 160m band. You would have to change coils and/or add
capacitors which will probably not be worth the effort. To switch in and
out these various circuits would be the main problem.
One possibility might be building a transverter and use the transverter
output of the KWM-2. The receiving part could be as simple as a single
NE-602 integrated circuit, a bandfilter and a xtal. The transmitting
part is a bit more complex and depends on how much power you want. It
could be solid state or tubes (or do you have valves in South Africa?).
All should fit nicely into a 516F-2 cabinet... Well another project! :-)
