[Collins] RE: R388 SSB CONVERSION OR MODS

The product detector mod in my 51J3 that I haven't traced yet appears to
have replaced the double 40 plug in electrolytic with a triple 20 and
use the section separately. A logical application is adding extra
bypassing to the B+ for the product detector to give better freedom from
audio feedback. I needed the bench for other projects and so rack
mounted the receiver that's working fine without learning all its
modification details. Something for the future. Its previous owner was
very active in Navy MARS (to the point of being state director) and some
mods may have come from there. The gray epoxy painted and silk screened
panel may have come from Collins and some of the mods may have also
since some of his students surely went on to work at Collins.
