[Collins] KWM-2 Popping Noise

Although it sounds like recently your popping noise has gotten worse, some  
of it may be due to early AGC circuitry design which was changed in a Service  
Bulletin. I have a very early KWM-2 (#2) which exhibits this somewhat. It is a 
 symptom of the AGC attack not being fast enough to reduce gain on first 
signal  peaks. The fact that reducing RF gain helps supports this diagnosis. 
 
Check to see if your KWM-2 has SB-8A. I chose not to install it, as I  wanted 
to leave mine 'factory'.
