Bristol spline are not the same as Torx. Not interchangeable. Bristol
come in decimal outside diameters, four and 6 spline.
Best I can tell today, the S-line needs all 6 spline, .060, .076, .096
and .111 sizes. A line doesn't need the .060 size, R-390(a) and 51J, I'm
digging into. I know the 51J uses the two larger ones on the front panel
knobs. By tomorrow some time, I'll have identified any others.
For working on the radios, I use an Xcelite set that I've owned for
decades.
McMaster-Carr has a stock and decent prices on kits and angle wrenches,
www.mcmaster.com. Search for Bristol or spline wrenches.
Some of the national electronics tool stores sell the Xcelite sets, some
don't carry the spline set. And there's an on line vendor who sells a
set of four spline right angle wrenches as often supplied with 51J and
R-3xx receivers for about $10. McMaster-Carr asks under a buck a wrench.
