Turn the speaker over. Let the cone sag away from the magnet. A reconing
shop may be able to recenter the cone without replacing it. Otherwise
replacement is practical, with the right tools and materials speaker
reconing isn't a difficult task. Takes a set of none magnetic shims to
center the voice coil in the air gap and some duco cement (at least that
was what was used 50 years ago). In the 30s and 40s, maybe into the 50s
GC sold a set of shims that had several thicknesses. My dad's workbench
may still have one of those sets, but I've not seen it lately.
Popping off the dust cone and inserting shims to push the cone towards
center may also be a temporary solution. But turning the speaker over
should be enough if the cone centering spider isn't loose.
The cone centering spider of speakers made in the 30s were bolted
instead of glued so that they could be recentered as the cones sagged.
