Hi,

The dust has settled on the 516F-2 transformer/choke project. Thanks to
all who participated and helped to reduce the price because of the great
response. All iron should be delivered by now. From the feedback I
have gotten, all are very pleased. If you missed out on these, sorry,
but they are all gone. Maybe I'll do it again in another year or so.
It is now time to start the replacement transformer project for the
30L-1. If you did not get the specs earlier, here is what will be
available.

I received enough interest to warrant a production run of transformers
for the 30L-1 power supply. The replacement transformer specs would be
as follows: The mounting holes will be 3 7/8" X 4 1/2" c-c as
original. The transformer will have end bells, as original. It will be
the original size. The original mounting bracket is peculiar and would
cost too much to duplicate so 4 individual mounting clips will be
provided. They will be fine but if you want, it would be a simple
matter to transfer the old ones to the new transformer, if you have
them.

The primary will be for 120/240 VAC (not 115/230). The filament winding
will be 6.3 VAC @ 16 amps. The HV secondaries will be 740 VAC @ 1.5 amp
and 120 VAC @ .02 amp. The 740 VAC secondary was based on my 30L-1 RE
unloaded transformer measurements and will have the same 50% duty cycle
(30 seconds max key down time) as original (really it will be better due
to the better wire insulation available now). The transformer will be
for 60 HZ NOT 50 - 60 HZ as original. If our foreign friends or others
want 50 HZ and are willing to pay the adder for that plus extra shipping
and duties involved, let me know and I'll see how much more it will
cost. No tire kickers please, this project is taking enough time as it
is.

Due to the nice response I got the transformer down to $88, DELIVERED
(USA)! This is based on the tentative response I have received so far.
Hopefully we will hold those quantities.

If you are interested, email me now (whether you responded previously or
not) with the firm number that you want. Do NOT send money at this
time! This time is for real. If you are not sure you will want them
for whatever reason, don't respond. Those who did not respond before or
are hearing about this for the first time, jump on board.

I just want to mention the disclaimer that you are buying the chokes
from the manufacturer, not me. I am not making anything out of this and
don't want to. I just want a good transformer at a good price like
everybody else. If there is a problem with your shipment, contact the
manufacturer. That is between the two of you. I'll help, if I can, but
that is it.
