There have been some modifications on replacing the
tube with a 6AQ5.  But, the 6AQ5 runs pretty hot as
well!  You could "tap off" the grid circuit and run
into a small solid-state amplifier.  However, that
would definitely change the "all tube" configuration.

Yes, the 6BF5 in all of my S-Line receivers runs
pretty hot.  Kinda like the horizontal output tubes in
the old tube television sets.  Many a TV serviceman
had scars on his/her fore-arm from reaching across it
to get to other tubes in the set.
