Hello to all the Collins fans:
I have a 75A-4 receiver and a 312A-1 speaker w/ light assy. I have had
several people on this reflector that have provided me with help, both with
electronics and finish of these items. I have the speaker cleaned up and
oversprayed w/ St. James and it does look very nice. I didn't take the
scratches out of it as it would have meant trying to get that texture again.
I also was able to find two sockets for the cabnet. I bought a hood from
this reflector and bulb from our local (old) hardware. Finally I was up
against the wall about the end caps and their covers, this is the part that
the hood fits on. Finally a good samaritan in California had 4 end caps, of
which I shared with another Collins fan in S. Carolina. I was left with the
delema as to how would I mount the hood over the light. Some mentioned using
1"copper and painting. I spoke about this with a friend of mine who has a
model shop, he makes lucite replica's of glass ware for photography, and he
thought that he could make me a pair. He used something called niatrol??,
actually Acetal, that is satin black. They were just beautiful except they
were a little short and the hood didn't have enough stock to stay snapped on
if you wanted to rotate the light. He is making me a new pair that is 3/8"
longer. I just love them. I inquired as to how much it would cost to get a
dozen pairs made and he told me that it would cost me $25.00 each and he
would make me a dozen pair. He told me that the Acetal costs quite a bit and
he had to buy a larger rod than he wanted.

Well to end this saga, I can get them, and I will take pics of mine a little
later, for $25.00 each and will only charge the postage extra if there are
anyone out there that would like some. If you want them and are going to the
TenTec Hamfest in Tennessee I'll bring them with me.

Thanks to all for the bandwidth and for all of the help you have given me in
the past.

Best Regards,
Ralph Howes
