Subject: [Collins] The S-Line is now on the air
I want to thank EVERYBODY that helped with this project. I cannot begin
to name everyone that helped but special mention goes to David Harmon,
K6XYZ, who has been most helpful with tuning information in the last
stages of the project.
After 10 months of off and on activity to get all the parts and bring
the 1958 S-Line on the air, it is finally there....or at least that is
what the meter on the 312B-4 says. I haven't made a contact yet but the
meter says I have a 1.33:1 VSWR and the peaks are between 80 and 100
watts when I speak. I have called CQ a couple of times but no answer
yet. But because of antennas I am restricted to 40 meters right now. A
20-15-10 Spider Beam is in the future but not yet.
My biggest problems were myself, with a incorrectly wired mike and
trying to tune up on 20 meters using a 40 meter dipole (I had used the
Icom 725 on that antenna at 20 meters......with an antenna tuner,
ooops.)
But it is now on the air and I am looking forward to getting that Spider
Beam up.
Thanks everyone.
