If you put them in the correct position and adjusted
the preselector to the proper place according to the
chart in the instruction manual, then you might have
to adjust the trimmer capacitor for that particular
band range to get the crystal to oscillate. You
usually only have to move it a very small amount to
get the oscillator to work. Of course, you don't want
to move it so far that the other crystals won't work.
I had to slightly adjust the trimmer for one of the
WARC bands (don't remember now just which one) in my
75S-3A. That was several years ago and the 75S-3A /
32S-3 combination work fine on all of the WARC bands.
Unfortunately, the 10 meter section is not the correct
place! For 30 meters you have to use band "C" which
is normally used for 20 meters, and for 17 meters you
use band "D" which is normally used for 15 meters.
The 5 band ranges are 3.5 to 5.0 MHz, 6.5 to 9.5 MHz,
9.5 to 15.0 MHz, 15.0 to 22.0 MHz, and 22.0 MHz to
30.0 MHz. Where you put the crystal definitely DOES
make a difference!
If you don't have the KWM-2A, then you will have to
pull one of the existing crystals or else add an
additional crystal deck. I do manufacture additional
crystal decks that require no equipment modifications.

this message.

Hi Dave,
There was almost nothing like them made "yesterday" either!
Just for the historical record... Hughes Semiconductors did make an
equivalent part (HC7001) which was also available in a "A" & "B" version
with 10% & 5% tolerance respectively. The unlettered parts were 20% as
are the EIA 1N950's.

Nope, not mentioned on the can. I should clarify on this stuff. I believe
what
Dave W3ST used was Pledge with Orange Oil, not what I reffered to but also
works fine. The replacement for Wood & Glass is Clean & Dust (contains no
wax).
Sorry about any confusion.

| Dave and all,
| Ditto on how this does the job. By the way, I was told by the company
| that this is a direct replacement for Pledge Wood and Glass which is no
| longer sold. I had used the latter on every classic I have, mainly for
| the front panel and knobs, but it seemed to work on everything and never
| removed any lettering on anything. You don' t get a bright shine, just a
| clean, semi-gloss appearance. 73, Dick KF4NS St. Petersburg, FL 33714

| I have "discovered" a wonderful cleaner and restorer for the wrinkle =
| finish on our Collins radios. It is liquid Pledge that comes in a spray
| = bottle. It contains orange oil and the label says that it cleans and
| = revitalizes wood. Better than any other liquid that I have used to =
| clean and beautify our Saint James Gray boxes.
|
| This is a "miracle" liquid that brings a lovely shine to the paint and =
| gives the room a wonderful orange scent! You can bet that I am going to
| = keep a bottle handy. Try it and let me know what you think.
|
| Thanks.
