[Collins] Bench supply for MP-1

I am designing a bench supply for servicing an MP-1. I was lucky enough
to get a low voltage transformer at Dayton with excess ratings. I'm not
sure of the specs but it is a dual secondary, 44 VAC CT. I think each
secondary is at least 50 amps! The transformer weighs at least 50
pounds! I know I don't need that much power for the MP-1 but I'll
design it for a solid state KW while I'm at it. I'll put in adjustable
current limiting so it doesn't turn into a welder! ;)

Here is the question. Should I parallel the secondaries (they are
identical) and then rectify or should I rectify each secondary
separately and then parallel the rectified outputs? Besides diode
count, is there any real advantage either way?

Thanks for your help,
