Since tuning and CW signal comes from an audio tone fed to the plate of
the first audio stage, the only places that can kill SSB audio are that
first Mic ampl stage and the microphone. Possibly the cathode circuit of
the tube isn't made in the mode switch, or the microphone is wired
backwards or is very low output voltage from being low impedance or
there is a short in the microphone plug or jack. Or something is plugged
into the phone patch jack on the back shorting the transmit audio input.
