[Collins] R-388

Hello everyone. I am new to the list and later today will be picking up a 
R-388
receiver. I am unsure if it is a straight R-388 or the "A" version. Other than
running it up slowly on a variac, is there anything special I need to know 
about
bringing it up for the first time in several years? I have a whole 
collection of B/A
type gear, but this is my first R-388. Is there anything in particular that 
a new
owner should know about one of these rigs? Also, is it difficult to adapt 
the RF
input to work with 50 ohm line? Thanks and 73,
