[Collins] S-line PTO query

I removed the PTO from my 75S-3B for a re-cap and cleaning/greasing.
There are two inductors connected to the top plate of the PTO.  L-302 for end-point adjustment and the "other" one.  A always "assumed" that the "other" one was a fixed inductance, I was surprised to find a slug in the coil.
In a search of manuals, bulletins, etc. I find no reference to adjusting the coil.  My guess is that it is used to even out frequency variations within the 200kc. tuning range.
Can anyone point me to a reference for adjusting this coil?
