Hi CRA gang, well I am once again seeking your expert advice. I picked up a 75A4/KWS1 locally and want your expert advice on where to start the restoration process, or point me to a website(s) that can detail the task I am facing. They were in storage for years and the owner bought them from Henry Radio in LA. I didn't keep up on the emails floating on the reflector that pertain to the Twins, wish I did. I do know that Howard Mills W3HM does restorations and the only real cosmetics on the 75A4 and KWS1 head are the top lids, the rest of the cabinets are fine. The KWS1 power supply cabinet needs a repaint on the sides, front and back are good, no serious scratches, but could use an overpaint. There were 6 total filters, 6.0, 3.1, 1.3 and a 800, the 6.0 AM filter is not installed and two of the filters first three digits is 522 vice 526. I have taken extensive photos of the three pieces so I can track the restoration process for a potential future website topic. If anyon!
e has the time to give me advice, I can send the photos to you and I'm open to your suggestions. After lifting the power supply out of the back of my SUV and reading in the KWS1 Manual, I find it hard to understand the Collins statement on page 1 of the General Description..."The KWS1 is a compact amateur transmitter for single sideband" but what a treasure.. it weighs the same as my Dad's 57 Chevy BelAire...built the same too...73
