If you don't own a KWS-1, KWS-1K, or 32W-1, you can delete this email now.

After having acquired a KWS-1, I became interested in the various production
variations and changes in the KWS-1. While surveys of such variations have
been done for other radios, to my knowledge it has not been compiled for the KWS-1.

Therefore I am posting this survey of KWS-1 production variations.
Please help me build a database on the KWS-1 by completing this survey.
I will compile the results and share them with anyone who is interested.
If you think of any interesting variations not mentioned in this survey,
please let me know about them. If you are fortunate (or crazy!?) enough to own
more than one KWS-1, please complete one survey for each.

Please send the completed survey back to me via email to:

[email protected]

Thanks,

Tony, K1KP

PLEASE DO NOT REPLY TO THE LIST!!
I would like to limit list bandwidth to this posting only

I believe I have discovered that KWS-1's have MCNs (Manufacturing
Control Numbers). This is a number assigned to the unit during manufacturing
before they get serial numbers, This number is stamped in black ink
on the top rail behind the front panel, under the lid, on the
left near the Multi meter.

Some KWS-1's have a hold-down spring for the finals.
This is identified by 2 extra screws in the Final

Two different ALC detectors were used.
(This probably tracks with the front panel ALC Adjust pot).

Some KWS-1's came with just a terminal block for
accessory cables connected to the power supply (CW KEY,
Antenna relay, muting, etc). Others had a 'Pendant Cable'
