Lyle,
I use a 30L-1 with my FT-920. The FT-920 can key the amp without any =
extra relays. There is a switch on the back that enables a relay inside =
the radio that is capable of keying the 30L-1. See your manual for =
exact setting.

Can anyone help Lyle when he uses a 30L-1 with a FT-920 transceiver. =
Thanks
Lyle: Look at your manual on the 920 and try to find where it mentions =
an external jack on the 920 being used to switch an external relay to be =
used when switching an amplifier relay circuit. I would suspect that =
there is a 12 volt switching line that can be used with an external =
relay, 12 volt relay. Incidentally, Yaesu sold such a relay box that =
plugged into a 12 volt plug on their equipment. The relays in many of =
these solid-state transceivers are too light to switch a Collins 30L-1.
I am going to place your need on the QTH.NET Collins mail list and hope =
that someone knows how to hook up the TS-920 to the 30L-1.

Thank you for the prompt reply.
Is there a specific relay or part number I should get.
I have found the amp for $400...and I am hoping that is a good price.
Will keep the 811a.
